SulfaGuard 3601

New H2S Scavenger

SulfaGuard 3601 is a cost-effective, high-performing H2S scavenger that helps facilitate the safe and efficient operation of chemical engineering processes and large industrial systems. By helping to prevent sulfur-containing solids from forming in contact tower applications, our formulation reduces downtime and maximizes the reusability of equipment, allowing operators to keep their systems online. Its ability to remove sulfur compounds from gas streams or from liquid hydrocarbons makes it a versatile tool for safeguarding industrial workplaces from the corrosive and toxic effects of H2S.

PROBLEM IDENTITY

Customer currently using an H2S scavenger with good performance. Cost optimization was required.

Key Performance Indicators to keep:

  • No generation of solids
  • Gallon usage similar or lower than incumbent
  • Product winterized
  • Same or higher capacity of Scavenge

SOLUTION

It was decided to utilize SulfaGuard 3601 to address the following issues:

  • Prevent solid formation in disposal tank
  • Reduce downtime and maintenance costs
  • Improve efficiency and decrease scavenger costs

BENEFITS

  • No solids formed in the disposal tank and associated piping, cutting out downtime and maintenance for that unit.
  • Optimized formula, delivering overall cost savings, while maintaining high performance
  • +8% additional savings compared to current treatment
  • 0 additional inventory
  • 0 solids formed

LAB RESULTS

Testing shows the SG-3601 to be highly effective in the removal of H2S. Product shows a resistance to solid formation, with nearly double the H2S being sparged into the product that was required for breakthrough before turbidity was seen. On cooling after reaching the turbidity endpoint, which often identifies adverse reactions such as solid formation, two layers broke out of the sample. At the interface of the layer was a soft haziness, which was assumed to be slight precipitate from formation of solids. These solids/haziness flow well and are easily dispersed with mild agitation. It would not be expected to see issues from solids, as the perceived haziness is soft and not likely to settle significantly due to agitation.

FIELD TRIAL

  • SulfaGuard 3601 was selected and applied into contact tower Baseline was done with the current scavenger.
  • No solids formed in the disposal tank and associated piping
  • Rates of injection very similar
  • Scavenger costs decreased due to its optimized formulation

CONCLUSION

Ultimately, SulfaGuard 3601 stands out as an invaluable asset in the field of H2S scavenging. By delivering a solution that combines economic viability with high operational performance, it ensures that industries navigate the complexities of sulfur compound management with precision and ease. This dual advantage confirms SG-3601’s esteemed role as an indispensable tool in our technological arsenal against H2S pitfalls, promoting enhanced productivity and environmental compliance.
