Activated carbon (also called activated charcoal) is a highly porous, processed form of carbon used to adsorb impurities from gases or liquids. The activated carbons are used for many liquid and vapor phase applications. Coastal Chemical provides customers with a diverse offering of carbon that is suitable for a range of applications.

Granular Activated Carbon
Granular activated carbon is used to adsorb natural organic compounds in liquid and gases for an array of industrial applications. Granular activated carbon is available in different mesh sizes, so the customer can select the correct mesh size for their application.
Pelletized Activated Carbon
Pelletized carbon is created by extruding activated carbon into cylindrically shaped pellets with diameters ranging from 0.8 to 5 mm. Their high activity and service area make it ideal for many vapor phase applications but is also used in liquid applications with positive results.
Calgon Carbons
Calgon, A Kuraray company, created the first activated carbon products from bituminous carbon in the 1940s. Their product portfolio encompasses over 700 direct market applications, including the first use of granular carbon for odor removal from drinking water.

Jacobi Carbons

Anthrafilt Bed Support
Anthrafilt bed support is manufactured with anthracite coal that has been extracted from the ground and crushed in preparation plants after removing the rocks and dirt. These coals are routinely tested for specific gravity, acid solubility and grain size distribution prior to shipment.
